“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” -Neale Donald Walsch

Today I left behind all the comforts of the United States and embarked on my year-long adventure in Spain. I am overwhelmed with all sorts of emotions. I’m excited for all that lies ahead of me: all the culture Spain has to offer, all the new faces I will encounter whether in passing or in a long-term sense, all the familiar faces I will have the opportunity to reconnect with, and all that I will learn about myself along the way. I’m nervous as well but that is all part of the excitement. Sure, I currently don’t have a place to live (yet). Sure, my Spanish needs work. But, those are all things that can be figured out. All it takes is a little time and I’ve got plenty of it. Most of all though, I am feeling overwhelmingly thankful. Thankful for this opportunity that Northeastern has offered me, for my family and friends who have encouraged me in every which way and shared their positive energy, and for the unconditional love and support from my parents. These past three years have been a mess for my family but with chaos comes learning. I’ve learned that no matter what, family will always be first. No matter where we all are in the world, I will always feel their love, support, encouragement, and positive energy.

This is my second big move, following my move from San Francisco to Boston for university. And this is my second world adventure, following my adventure to South America with my sister. Neale Donald Walsch was right. You learn, grow, and experience when you step outside of your comfort zone. You need to keep pushing yourself to truly live. When you become too comfortable, that’s the time to embark on a new adventure. I am so grateful for all the people who have shaped my adventures in San Francisco, Boston, and South America. Each day, I am learning more about what I want for myself, where I fit in in this world, what I aspire to do, and who I want to be. I will never stop adventuring. I am so grateful that the next chapter in my life will be taking place in Spain! I will try to write every day, some posts will be recapping my day, some will be random trains of thoughts, and some will be me trying to pinpoint my emotions. Whatever my posts entail, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them! The world is a grand place and I’m just getting a small taste of it. Adventure is out there!
